Many commercial vehicle and bus and coach workshops throughout the UK have old and outdated inspection pits. Typically brick or concrete built. The old working environment is generally dirty and hard to maintain with re painting being a large problem.
These may not be compliant for H&S guidance in terms of stairs, lighting, working height beneath vehicles etc. To replace an inspection pit can be often be the best solution however this can be costly and involve large amounts of down time for the business. A new concept from Everquip is the PitClad system. This is a unique approach to a problem.
The PitClad system involves using the existing pit as a starting point. Subject to site survey we will design a bespoke internal clad system to fit into the existing pit structure. This involves laying a new floor, walls, endplates and cladding to existing stair units (if usable within current BS regulations). An integral step up rail is incorporated as part of the design. New stair and escape ladder units will be fabricated as needed. A new jack rail trim is fitted to improve the top load area and integrate into the clad system. New zone 2 compliant lighting and new air and waste oil discharge pipework is fitted to finish off.
Existing pits that are not deep enough for current working conditions can be deepened with our unique floor profiles, however this will require some civil works to excavate a trench in the floor to accommodate the deep floor sections.
