Service Pits
Service pits are designed to allow easy working access of an underside commercial vehicle for inspection, maintenance and repair.
Commercial vehicles are predominantly worked on under a pit rather than a lift in the U.K. there are a number of reasons why:
- Quicker throughput
- No ongoing maintenance required
- DVSA ATF Lanes use inspection pits
- Improved health and safety with CE 1090 marked vehicle inspection pits
Service Pits were typically made out of brick and left numerous hazards for when working underneath a vehicle such as:
- Ingress of water
- Poor lighting
- Slippery entrance and exit
- Unsafe flooring
- Poor working conditions
The introduction of an Everquip steel fabricated vehicle service pit solved the above by producing:
- Non-slip entrance and exit to BS5395
- Non-slip floor
- Zone 2 lights
- Centrally fitted sump
- Steel fabrication of pit with skeletal frame internally and externally welded to ensure no ingress of water.
Everquip range of service pits are used in a variety of commercial vehicle industries, and because of our extensive knowledge we fabricate steel pits for several industries:
- Bus and Coach Pits
- Public Service Vehicle Inspection Pits
- Truck, Trailer and HGV Inspection Pits
- DVSA ATF Testing Pits
- General maintenance and working
- Inspection Pits
- Railway / Locomotive Inspection Pits
- Wide Bodied inspection pits for European specification vehicle pits
The above pre-fabricated Service Pits are all built to the same quality and via the same process. However, because vehicles have variances on widths and heights Everquip’s Service pits are built bespoke to exact measurements to enhance working conditions on individual vehicles.
