Customer Requirement
A new bus workshop facility was being opened in Scotland requiring 16 service pits, 1 ATF Test Pit and 1 Wash Pit and associated pit equipment. We were contacted by the main contractor who was looking for a supplier who could provide a one stop shop with quality products, a good health & safety track record and who had the ability to deliver the project on time and within budget.
Everquip Response
On receipt of order we worked with the client to confirm pit specifications prior to build and proposed workshop layout. We discussed the scheduling and timescale for install and with the space on site the client was able to take delivery of half of the pits for storage until the remaining pits were complete.
On completion of the build, the remaining pits were then delivered to site on a just in time basis. With pits being stored on site the installation could continually work without delay waiting for transport to arrive. The installation of the 18 pits took just one week to have the pits installed and levelled in the ground and service ducts connected. This was well ahead of client’s programme.
We also supplied full lubrication system including multi-reel gantries for oils, air and water. Pit safety equipment was also an element of importance retractable barrier tape units were installed to highlight the open pits when they are not in use. Pit bridges were also supplied to allow the mechanics to work on the front/back of the bus without blocking the exits.
The Outcome
The installation was completed ahead of schedule and within budget and the Client was extremely pleased that they had been able to gain time due to previous delays by bad weather. The main contractor was able to deal with just one supplier to carry out all works required which allowed them to concentrate on other parts of the project.
